Rely on AceCare Dental when you need a root canal in Oviedo, FL and Winter Park, FL.
Why You May Need a Root Canal
Dr. Cho uses root canals to remove inflamed, infected, or damaged tooth pulp. Because dental pulp surrounds the nerves in your teeth, as shown in the diagram, pulp issues can cause intense pain, tooth loss, or visible surface weaknesses if left untreated.
Conditions that necessitate root canals include advanced decay, deep cracks or fractures, acute oral trauma, and infection. Contact us immediately if you experience the following symptoms:
- Abscess in the gums
- Extreme hot or cold sensitivity
- Pain while chewing
- Swelling of the gums or face
However, you may not experience any negative symptoms if the infection only affects a tooth with a dead nerve. We can detect these issues during routine X-rays and exams. Come in to our office every six months for cleaning and prevention.
How Root Canals Work
At AceCare Dental, Dr. Cho typically performs root canals in one appointments. On the visit, we create an access hole in the tooth’s surface. This hole allows us to remove the pulp causing your symptoms. We then clean the procedure site and use antibiotics to resolve any existing infection and prevent future infections. At the end of this appointment, we fit your tooth with a temporary filling.
Between one and two weeks later, we remove that temporary filling. This allows us to thoroughly clean the access point, apply sealant, and place a permanent filling. We then fit the tooth with a crown, which protects it from future damage.
If you experience any of the symptoms listed above or your dentist recommends the procedure, call AceCare Dental. Schedule your root canal at Oviedo or Winter Park offices to end your tooth pain.
